Documents Required For Canada Student Visa

To obtain a Canadian student visa from Bangladesh, you must have a valid passport, sufficient funds, a study permit application, proof of financial support, and an offer letter from a Canadian institution.

Canada student visa processing time may take four to eight weeks. Generally, documents required for a Canada student visa from Bangladesh include a valid passport, a letter of acceptance, a vaccination certificate, and proof of financial support.

To obtain a Canada student visa with a spouse, a minimum bank balance for the main applicant is CAD 10,000 and CAD 4,000 additional for the spouse. Funds should be in the bank account for at least six months before applying. Therefore, you must apply with the proper documents to get a Canada Student Visa from Bangladesh.

Letter of Acceptance

Since proof of acceptance letter is required for the visa process, it holds great importance. It is a formal document sent by colleges to inform applicants that they have been accepted into the institution. Bangladeshi students must provide official identification documents when applying for a study permit in Canada. In layman’s language, you also need to use a national identity card, driver's license, or social security card instead. Among other documents of identification, you must also provide a birth certificate. The "Nikkah Nama" and wedding images are required when applying for a spouse visa. To qualify for a spouse visa, applicants must provide proof of their marriage to the visa's intended applicant.

Financial Support Evidence

Canada Student Visas also require sufficient funding, and you must need evidence of relevant documents. Bangladeshi students can submit bank statements or balances no less than six months old for an application to be considered. The minimum bank statement for a Canada student visa is CAD 10,000, plus tuition and living expenses. It includes funds required depending on the program's length, the study's location, and the number of accompanying family members. You can submit documents as financial support evidence, such as bank account statements, loan approval letters, scholarships, affidavits of support/sponsorship, and loan capability certificates. However, there are no specific requirements for the source of funds as long as they are readily available and can be transferred to Canada.

Statement of Purpose(SOP)

An explanation letter for a Canada student visa is a crucial document that assists the visa officer in understanding your situation and circumstances better, ultimately helping them make a final decision on your application. Generally, you mention specific information about your background, intellectual trajectory, chosen course of study, and the reason for selecting Canada over other countries for pursuing this education. To write an effective letter, you start by writing about your background information, describe your intellectual trajectory and explain your intentions for studying the chosen course. In the end, you emphasize your reasons for choosing Canada over any other country or your home country.

Medical Test

The medical test for a Canada student visa is one of the most important and essential visa application steps. International students must get a medical tests done before applying. Canada’s medical test list includes checking your weight, height, blood pressure, and some other laboratory tests. Laboratory tests may include chest x-ray, urine test, blood test for HIV. The Canada visa medical test fee in Bangladesh usually depends on your age and medical background. Generally, you will pay fees for every medical test recommended by your doctor (or) physician. The average medical fees is BDT 6000 per person (for adults), whereas it is BDT 6500 per person (for applicants over 40 years), BDT 4500 (for children over 11) and BDT 3500 (for children under 11).

Approved medical centers for Canada immigration in Bangladesh include Green Crescent Health Services and Dr Lina Shahnaz Parveen Hoq, both authorized by the CIC and the Canadian High Commission, Dhaka, to conduct health screenings for visa applicants.

Police Clearance Certificate

A police clearance certificate (PCC) is a government-issued document that states the individual applying has never been convicted (or) committed any crime and has no criminal record in his/her country. The process of applying for PCC in Bangladesh for Canada includes:
  • A duly signed application form. 
  • An attested photocopy of your passport and one copy of your passport-sized photograph. 
  • A copy of the birth certificate or national identity card.
  • Receipt of fee submission of the police clearance certificate from any Bangladeshi bank. 

The processing time of the police clearance certificate is usually 5—6 weeks, and the cost of PCC was BDT 500.
