Master of Teaching and Learning (Primary)

Master of Teaching and Learning (Primary) is an 11-month, full-time programme that prepares you to become a confident and capable primary school teacher. This teacher training course focuses on developing the skills and knowledge necessary to create positive and inclusive learning environments for children. You will gain real-world classroom experience, spending 35 weeks in a school setting. For 22 weeks, you will work three to four days a week alongside an experienced mentor teacher in your host school. You will also complete 15 weeks of full-time teaching practice, including time in a second school to broaden your experience. This hands-on learning helps you understand how teaching theory is applied in real-life practice. While the programme will be fully online in 2026, some on-campus attendance is required during key periods. This education degree in New Zealand provides strong practical training and a deep understanding of teaching methods. By the end of the course, you will earn a recognised teaching qualification that prepares you for a meaningful teaching career in New Zealand or abroad.
