The Master’s Programme in Business and Management – Entrepreneurship at Uppsala University is an advanced two-year postgraduate degree designed to foster entrepreneurial mindsets, venture creation skills, and strategic innovation capabilities. Taught entirely in English by the renowned Department of Business Studies within the Faculty of Social Sciences, this programme leads to a Master of Science (120 ECTS) in Business and Economics. It bridges foundational theories of firm strategy, organizational dynamics, and economic change with practical tools required to identify market opportunities, commercialize disruptive ideas, and navigate early-stage venture uncertainties. During the first semester, students build advanced core competencies through Strategy and Contemporary Issues (15 ECTS), Theories in Business and Management (7.5 ECTS), and Scientific Methods in Business Research (7.5 ECTS). The second semester focuses specifically on the entrepreneurship track, covering Contemporary Leadership Challenges, Developing Opportunities, Launching the Firm, and Corporate Entrepreneurship. Students learn to draft full-fledged business plans, assess feasibility, and leverage Uppsala's world-leading startup and incubator ecosystem (including Drivhuset and UIC). The third semester offers exceptional flexibility to pursue an international exchange semester at a global partner university, complete a credit-bearing corporate internship, or select advanced elective courses. The programme culminates in the fourth semester with an independent Master’s Thesis (30 ECTS), conducting empirical research on entrepreneurial ventures and organizational growth.
