The Master of Teaching and Learning at the University of Waikato develops your critical understanding of research-based teaching methods, learning theory, inquiry skills, and subject knowledge. You will gain valuable practical experience with the support of experienced lecturers and mentor teachers from the Te Kura Toi Tangata School of Education. The course comprises 80 days of classroom instruction across two different schools, providing hands-on experience in real educational settings. The programme covers topics such as teaching in the New Zealand context and evidence-based inquiry. Supporting diverse learners, curriculum design, and implementation. Students complete eleven advanced postgraduate papers totaling 180 points. This intensive teacher training course is designed for high achievers and has higher entry requirements than the Graduate Diploma in Teaching. It offers a recognised teaching qualification that opens doors to various educational careers, including roles such as Education Policy Analyst.
