The Master’s Programme in Public Health Science - Social Sustainable Development from a Global Perspective at Mälardalen University (MDU) is an advanced postgraduate degree designed to analyze, understand, and address public health challenges on local, national, and global levels. Taught entirely in English on Campus Västerås, this programme awards a Master of Science (120 ECTS) with a major in Public Health Science. The curriculum explores the structural, social, economic, and political determinants of health equity and global wellbeing. Students gain theoretical knowledge and analytical capabilities across global health governance, planetary health, epidemiological methods, health system evaluation, and societal policy implementation. A Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS credits) equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen with a major in Public Health Science, Health Sciences, Medicine, Caring Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field within the Social or Medical Sciences; OR a degree including a minimum of 90 ECTS credits in a related health/social science discipline. Prerequisites include course modules covering basic statistics or social/health science research methodologies. English language proficiency equivalent to Swedish Upper Secondary School English 6 / English B.
