The Master’s Programme in Mechanical Engineering at Linköping University (Institute of Technology - LiTH) is an advanced two-year postgraduate degree engineered to educate cutting-edge design engineers, dynamicists, and industrial systems developers. Taught entirely in English within the Faculty of Science and Engineering on Campus Valla, this programme awards a Master of Science (120 ECTS) with a major in Mechanical Engineering. It covers the entire lifecycle of complex product realization—from conceptual design and simulation to modern manufacturing, automation, structural integrity, and sustainable lifecycle management. The curriculum is structured around mandatory foundational coursework followed by deep specialization across five distinct tracks: Applied Mechanics, Engineering Design and Product Development, Engineering Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, and Mechatronics. Core and elective modules cover Advanced Finite Element Method (FEM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Multi-Body Dynamics and Robotics, Design Optimization, Road Vehicle Dynamics, Continuum Mechanics, Damage Mechanics and Life Analysis, and Production Automation. Additional Requirements

A Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS credits) equivalent to a Swedish Kandidatexamen with a major in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Specific requirements include at least 30 ECTS credits in Mathematics/Applied Mathematics relevant to the programme, and a completed university course in basic computer programming. English language proficiency equivalent to Swedish Upper Secondary School English 6 / English B.
